Share Dental - possibly the fastest growing website in the UK.
Share Dental was launched in April 2008 and is developing into an extremely useful resource for dental professionals. Like most websites Share Dental has taken time to develop. The forums are being frequently used by members of the dental team. We have recently placed a video library containg many interesting topics and we intend to add to this library. We are striving to get an online library of CPD, we already have several articles which will go live in January 2009. We have been vigilant in choosing leading specialists in the fields to produce articles for us. We also should have a job vacancy area for all dental related jobs.
We strive to keep our site user friendly for example we have a spell checker on our forums. We are quietly confident that Share Dental will develop into an invaluable resource for all dental care professionals. It may be of interest to overseas readers that we intend to launch www.sharedental.com in 2009, followed by several other English speaking countries.
Membership fees start at £30.00, for more information go to www.sharedental.co.uk and click on 'more about registration' for a full list.

How important is your education? For example is it as important as your health? No. Is it as important as your family? Certainly not. Is it as important as all your possessions? Arguably yes. It is possibly the third most important thing in your career as a Dental Professional. How come then, so many of us, once qualified, choose the easy option of not bothering to further their education. I suppose you could argue that we are being educated all the time we are working, just simply by performing our day to day duties, but I am afraid in today’s technological age, it is not enough. New techniques, materials and practices are being evolved from every corner of the globe, everyday and that is why we need to share information. Computers are an ideal way of learning about new things. In fact being a musician myself as well as a Dental Technician, I use an excellent American based website called 'Mandolin Cafe', I have started a thread on this forum to see if anybody had made a mandolin from acrylic resin. Within minutes I had replies from all over the world even some by email and one contributor in fact had made a mandolin out of clear acrylic resin apart from the tuners and the bridge and of course the strings (that would be clever).
I recently had a phone call from a well known dental journalist, he asked me where I had appeared from, "Nobody had ever heard of you a few months ago and you seem to be mentioned almost everywhere I look". In answer to his question I've alsways been around but have never wanted publicity as both myself and my wife, Lynne, are private people and I sometimes get very nervous talking in public.
I recently attended a meeting at Westminster organised by The Dental Technician journal and the 2020 group. The meeting was attended by many eminent people, including Duncan Rudkin, Barry Cockcroft and the Shadow Minister for Health amongst many others. It was a very lively meeting and at one point even Duncan was almost stuck for words. The full transcript and photographs of the meeting can be found on our site under 'Latest News' items.
We at Share Dental are doing our utmost to provide learning for all members of the Dental Team and associated workers. We have recently decided to go global with our formula and have reserved several domains for overseas countries. We intend to make several sister sites, much the same as ebay but for Dental Professionals and not for compulsive buyers! I include myself in this. We hope you will enjoy using the site as there is something for everybody and you as Dental Professionals will be responsible for making the site work. We would ask you to visit our forum and make a post please. The only thing we ask is that you keep the information accurate, properly punctuated and to the point as it will be there for all to read. We look forward to meeting you all on our forums and hope to make it as pleasurable and useful as we can. We are always open to constructive criticism so please leave us feedback if you deem it necessary.
